Clciking the mouse then (when the cursor is a long way off) will in fact change the tile or square grid it is sitting on.many miles away, even over mountain ranges. That cursor is still there but a long way away.many miles away in fact.
#Softube tape trial Patch
Example: You're in the RE, you have a patch of terrain to edit or change, you're in the F7 mode (grid).now play with the moves here and there.now move it further away until it disappears. Why? Because the cursor in the RE view window can actually "travel" many virtual miles from the spot you are woring on.

Your mouse (or cursor) can be your bestest buddy in the whole world or your arch nemesis scourge of the earth. Now.here's the anomaly and culprit sort of speak. The grid is infinite, even beyond the "fog", or the areas you cannot see. When the grid is on you have unlocked the key to every single tile in the route. This grid is your "doorway" to making changes of the tiles. When a route maker hits the Terrain Tile Tool (F7) you get this grid. When manipulating terrain there are a few standard rules to go by for "survival". This particular "problem" is what I consider a semi-irritant in the long run.but, it can be prevented as long as you can make yourself get into the habit of doing the proper procedure in the case above stated by Mr. Robert is correct about this "other" anomaly concerning the Terrain Tool (F9) and it can come back to bite ya on the a$$. My flippant attitude doesn't really show how much it IS appreciated. Thanks gents, for the info, and the work. Įvery time I run away tho I trip and land in the activity editor. The few times I have delved into the route editor it has bit me two times. Don't want to scare away the "straights" with an over-abundant pile of information. No use re-inventing the wheel a multitude of times.Ĭert# 05-1-NERR109A (Diesel, Steam & Passenger)ĪDF/M&RM & C&NW & NEAir - All now part of NERR Finding out weeks later what happened is rather disheartening when you have to go back and redo the terrain you spent so much time on in the first place or having to redo those artistic half/quarter texture patches. Otherwise, you might inadvertantly be leveling (or changing the texture on) a complete set of tiles somewhere 150 miles away. Make sure when you first push (or click) it, you immediately select a tile to work with. Kip, another one you might add having to do with the F9 Terrain or F7 key. These are but a few "little" items to remember when making a route. So place an object, do your terrain or whatever and right before you save, hit the F8 key (Pen tool). That tool is safe for saving and causes no harm. The to avoid this is after you have selected objects and placed them in the RE, hit the F8 key (Pen Tool). Deselect the object, especially track objects, before saving. The worst possible scenario is if you have a track selected (transparent) (F2) and you save.the possibility of an error, or even a TDB error, is great. Now.if and when you are going to save your route in the RE.it is extremely wise not to have those tools (above) on. These tools can cause RE "burps" and a possible error or even a semi-fatal flaw, recoverable, but a pain-in-the-ass. Remember that!Ģ.Another internal flaw is the Object Placement Tool or (F5), terrain tool (F9) and the selection tool (F2). In the RE, alot of the changes you made will revert back to the original "shape".after you changed it and saved. After I learned this 'trick" that particular error has "disappeared". One of the known errors (in AE) when using the menu/exit option is that sometimes the Service will become "out-of-date" even after you just changed it. Save your activity, but when you want to exit, use the ESC key all the way back to your desktop. Using the ESC key will bypass this anomaly. For some dumb reason the editor will negate some of the saved info. When done, use the ESC key instead of the Menu's EXIT key. In the RE, it is wise to save often and I mean after you lay track and use the "Y" key or use the terrain tool and change "Error Bias" for terrain. The reason, in a nutshell, is that the SAVE option in the menu works about 90% of the time. Why you ask? Well.the sim and editor is riddled with program flaws.an a detailed explaination will bore you. Mostly "quirks".ġ.When exiting the RE and AE too, use the ESC key instead of the menu/exit.
